Let’s continue on from yesterday’s post featuring the personal flowers & church decor, I’m having a great time recapping Ashley and Trey’s beautiful winter wedding. Thank you to Phindy Studios for the amazing images within this post!

A month or so prior to the wedding, Ashley’s mom reached out to me about having a statement piece to greet guests as they exited off the elevator to enter the ballroom for the reception. The Hilton Garden Inn has a beautiful ballroom area with windows that look out to the downtown skyline, and the lobby has a great open space. After the cocktail hour, the plan was to have the front entry table become the candy bar, but we didn’t want guests to delve right into the candy bar before they had a chance for cocktails– so we devised a plan: an impressive tree to welcome guests in the colors of the wedding.

The tree featured purple and white roses, purple stock, white and purple spider mums, moon carnations, and dendrobium orchids, and was accented with silver ting ting and hanging crystals. It towered at over 6 feet and was an impressive way to greet guests.

For the table centerpieces, we had three key designs. All along, Ashley loved the look of table trees– so we used white manzanita in square glass vases lined with ti leaves, filled the base with white hydrangea and purple orchids, and dotted the tree with purple and white orchid blossoms:

The trees looked perfect on the lovely purple linens:

The next set of centerpieces was a trio of submerged orchids in tinted water:

We dressed up the sweetheart table with orchid blossoms and candles, and a vase of white hydrangea with a uluhe curl heart

And our third centerpiece featured a 6X6 square vase lined with ti leaves and then filled with hydrangea, stock, orchids, cushion poms, roses and uluhe curls:

Once the party was underway, we moved the tree and assisted in the set up of the magnificent candy buffet– the guests loved this and delved in:

Brides– if you are loving what you see, Kristin Kaplan of Simply Stunning has all the set up materials (vases, tongs, etc etc) you see above to create your perfect candy buffet!

I had a wonderful time working with this sweet couple and loved seeing their vision come to life. Congratulations, Ashley & Trey: a lifetime of happiness!!

I met Ashley in March, 2009 to start talking about her wedding flowers. I had just opened the studio, and my upstairs consulting area wasn’t even complete yet when she came down to meet me along with planner Kristin Kaplan of Simply Stunning and her sweet mom, Linda. We poured over images that Ashley had collected and talked about the overall vision for her wedding: shades of purple, green, and white paired with black for a stark contrast.

The couple planned to marry at the breathtaking Scarritt Bennett and then have their reception at the Hilton Garden Inn on Broadway. After a great meeting discussing their day, I came up with an inspiration board to translate our conversation into a vision to act as blueprint for their wedding day:

From there, we worked together to create their beautiful day. All images courtesy of the wonderfully talented Phindy Studios

The bride carried a bouquet composed of white peonies, vendela roses, ocean song roses, purple calla lilies, galax leaves, uluhe curls, and white with black centered anemone blossoms. The bouquet was framed with green ti leaves and hand tied with eggplant ribbon wrapped with a handkerchief:

The groom’s boutonniere coordinated: a white mini calla lily accented with a uluhe curl:

The bridesmaids bouquets were composed of purple roses framed with ti leaves and accented with galax:

The beautiful bridal party:

And paired with their groomsmen:

They had an impressively large bridal party, right?!

We kept the decor for the church in shades of white to coordinate with the aesthetic at Scarritt. The bride’s family had these darling two cherubs that were a feature at every wedding, a kind of wedding good luck charm and family keepsake. We filled these with green ivy, dendrobium orchids, roses, and other white blossoms:

And for the altar: we dressed the table in a rich royal purple and then topped it with two altar centerpieces in white with accents of silver for a bit of drama:

Down the aisle, we used freestanding shepherds hooks and suspended glass globes with an amber LED base and a rose with greenery:

A few view of the church:

Stay tuned for the beautiful images from the reception.
